Standish Community High School is proud to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026 as students receive their GCSE results that mark the culmination of five years of hard work, commitment and determination.
This year’s cohort has achieved an excellent set of outcomes, reflecting the dedication shown by students throughout their time at Standish Community High School. Their success represents not only academic achievement but also the resilience, character and ambition they have demonstrated both inside and outside the classroom.
Our class of 2026 achieved 76% Grade 9-4 in English and maths, which reflects 88% Grade 9-4 in English and 78% Grade 9-4 in maths. We are also celebrating the success of those students who have achieved “strong passes” in English and maths (76% Grade 9-5 in English and 57% Grade 9-5 in maths).
Across a wide range of subjects, students have achieved impressive outcomes, with many securing grades that reflect years of dedication, perseverance and aspiration. In amongst this outstanding overall picture of success, several individual subject areas are able to boast outstanding attainment at Grade 9-4: Biology 100%, Chemistry 100%, Physics 100%, Combined Science 74%, Computer Science 89%, Digital Photography 96%, Drama 90%, French 92%, Graphics 96%, Health and Social Care 84%, ICT 86%, Spanish 100%, 3D Design 92%.
There have also been many exceptional individual performances, with students achieving the highest grades available and opening doors to exciting opportunities in further education, apprenticeships and future careers. Special mention should be given to the students who collectively achieved 295 Grade 8s or 9s across all subjects – including one student who achieved an amazing 10 Grade 9s. These grades represent the highest possible levels of success for a student.
While the results themselves are worthy of celebration, they tell only part of the story. Behind every grade is a young person who has shown courage, determination and commitment throughout their educational journey. As a school, we are immensely proud of what they have accomplished and of the positive contribution they have made to our school community.
Standish Community High School Headteacher, Lindsay Barker, said:
“Today is a day of great celebration and immense pride for our entire school community. These results reflect the hard work, determination and resilience shown by the Class of 2026 over many years and I would like to congratulate every student on their achievements.
We recognise that every student’s journey is different, and success takes many forms. Whether students have achieved the grades they hoped for, secured a place on their chosen college course, apprenticeship or training pathway, or overcome personal challenges along the way, they should be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished.
Our students have approached their time at Standish with ambition, kindness and determination. They have embraced opportunities, supported one another and demonstrated the values that make our school community so special. These qualities will serve them well as they embark on the next stage of their lives.
I would also like to thank our dedicated teaching and support staff whose professionalism, expertise and unwavering commitment have helped students to achieve their very best. Their care, encouragement and belief in our young people make a real difference every single day.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to parents, carers and families. Their support, encouragement and partnership with the school have been instrumental in helping our students achieve success.
On behalf of everyone at Standish Community High School, I wish the Class of 2026 every happiness and success for the future. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and look forward to seeing them fulfil their dreams and ambitions in the years ahead.”
The achievements of the Class of 2026 are the result of a genuine partnership between students, staff, parents, carers, governors and trustees. Their collective success demonstrates what can be achieved when a community works together to support young people to thrive.
As the Class of 2026 moves on to colleges, apprenticeships and employment opportunities, they leave Standish Community High School with much more than examination results. They leave with the knowledge, skills, confidence and character to make a positive contribution to their communities and to pursue their aspirations with confidence.
Everyone at Standish Community High School congratulates the Class of 2026 and wishes them every success in the exciting journey that lies ahead.
