Protected Characteristics

At Standish Community High School, we are committed to ensuring that every student is respected, valued and supported, in line with the protected characteristics outlined in the Equality Act 2010. Our Personal Development Programme (PDP), enriched curriculum and wider school activities are designed to promote inclusion, equality and understanding, helping students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to challenge discrimination and celebrate diversity. Through lessons, workshops, visiting speakers, extra-curricular activities and community projects, students explore topics such as gender, race, disability, faith, sexual orientation, and cultural identity, fostering empathy, respect and mutual understanding.

Opportunities such as Wellbeing Ambassadors initiatives, charity fundraising, international trips, subject ambassador roles and enrichment activities allow students to put these values into action, promoting a culture where differences are embraced and every young person can thrive. This focus equips students to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens, prepared to contribute positively to both school life and wider society.
