Futures (Transition & Careers)

Intent

The Futures Team at Standish are passionate about delivering a fit for purpose careers programme that meets the students’ needs, interests and possible career pathways no matter what stage of life they are at. We hope to deliver a balanced career view that will equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed choices about their post 16 options.

Through a whole school careers linked Programme of Studies, the Futures Team aim to personalise information, advice and guidance to enable students to discover where their interests and passions can lead them, as they embark on the first steps towards a career. The Team embraces the whole school vision of becoming ‘Outstanding’ in all that it does and will continue to improve on already good practice, with regards to delivering CIEAG and the Gatsby benchmarks.

The Futures Team are currently working hard to forge partnerships and work collaboratively with local and national companies, ensuring Standish delivers first-hand experience and advice from the world of work. We aim to offer students, parents and families every opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive careers programme, that listens and supports in the appropriate way.

The Futures Team want all staff to embrace and contribute to CIEAG through their roles as specialists in their disciplines. Staff are ideally placed to inspire students through great classroom practice, to research and discover more about opportunities beyond the confines of school. We aim to engage with local and national initiatives, keeping labour market information relevant to all that we plan and deliver. This will enable SCHS students to be ideally placed for career sector opportunities and to be fully equipped for the evolving requirements of the 21st century workplace.
