We are thrilled to share the outstanding success of three of our students: Omar in Year 10, Izzeddin and Mohammad (both Year 9) who formed the core of a robotics team that recently triumphed in the FTC Robotics 2026 competition. Competing as part of the Fitya Itkan Pioneers, the team showcased remarkable skill, teamwork and determination throughout the four‑month challenge.
Working under the close guidance of a university professor, the students spent months designing, building and programming their robot, refining every detail with creativity and precision. Their dedication paid off spectacularly when the team secured first place in the Sheffield Finals, held on 25 March 2026. In addition to this impressive win, they were also honoured with the Reach Award, recognising their exceptional outreach work and the positive impact they have made within the wider community.
And their success doesn’t end there: the team has now qualified for the national finals in London, taking place at the end of April; it’s an incredible achievement that reflects the hard work of every team member, including our own students who played a vital role in the project.
Team supervisors have expressed their admiration for the students’ commitment and have encouraged the school to share this achievement with their class teachers so the students can be celebrated properly. They also hope the students will have the chance to share their experience with classmates, as their journey is both inspiring and educational.
This is a moment of great pride for our school community. Omar, Izzeddin and Mohammad have demonstrated what passion, perseverance and collaboration can achieve – and we can’t wait to cheer them on as they head to the national finals!
