At Standish Community High School, we are committed to fostering an environment that prioritises the wellbeing of all our students. Wellbeing, as defined by F. Huppert, encompasses both the experience of positive emotions, such as happiness and contentment, and the ability to function well in daily life with a sense of purpose, control, and positive relationships.

At Standish Community High School we aim to:
Annually, we train around 30 students in Years 7, 8 and 9 to be Wellbeing Ambassadors. Students are trained in the five ways to wellbeing, boundaries, confidentiality and signposting. The role of the wellbeing ambassador is varied and involves working collaboratively to represent the student body to improve student wellbeing, carrying out random acts of kindness, as well as participating in student panel interviews.

There are many ways in which you can access support both inside and outside school.
At Standish Community High School we would initially signpost you to your Head of Year for support, however all staff are available to help. Positive wellbeing and mental health themes are threaded throughout our Personal Development Program to raise awareness, promote self-help strategies and to support productive conversations.
There are also many web-based organisations that can help support positive wellbeing and mental health. We have collated some useful links to signpost you to some of these websites and support agencies enabling access to support whenever required. Although the list is not exhaustive and many other useful organisations and services exist, it is hoped that these will help to navigate key resources and obtain appropriate support.
